A French brass striking and repeating novelty carriage clock in the form of a Sedan chair
Late 19th century
The case with coronet top on dolphin supports and applied with relief mounts of cherubs, birds and flowers, the side windows inset with painted metal panels of a seated young man with Cupid and of a young woman with a letter, also with Cupid, both signed C. FRITZ, both with losses to decoration, the mock front door with glazed panel over a recessed Arabic dial, with drop-down undulating rear door, the twin barrel movement with platform lever escapement and strike/repeat on gong to the backplate
