Royal Observatory records;
This chronometer was placed No. 14 in the Admiralty Annual Chronometer Trial of July 4th 1903 to January 23rd 1904, where it is described as having - Reversed detent; Kullberg auxiliary balance, palladium spring'. It was purchased by the Hydrographer of the Navy, March 1904 for £43. Royal Greenwich Observatory records show that it was issued to the following H.M Ships:
1906-1908: West Coast of England Surrey;
Captain J.W.Combe C.M.G R.N; used for surveys of the Bristol Channel and Lough Swilly in Ireland in the hired vessel Argo 1919-1922: H.M Surveying Ship Endeavour Captain F.A Reyne R.N for extensive surveys of the North Coast of Egypt
1919: H.M.S Biarritz, a minelayer
1930-1935: H.M.S Dragon; light cruiser. Of interest is that on 8th July, 1944 H.M.S Dragon was scuttled to form part of the
breakwater on the Normandy beaches for the W.W.2 invasion of Europe
