The silvered dial signed and numbered John Fletcher Maker to the Admiralty, 95 Leadenhall Street, London 3482, Roman hour numerals, subsidiary seconds dial within it inscribed Airy's Compensation and the Government mark, subsidiary up-and-down dial, blued steel hands, top-plate incised wth the Government Mark, Earnshaw escapement, cut bimetallic balance with Airy's bar, polished steel helical balance spring, spring foot detent with jewelled locking stone, brass bowl numbered 3482 and gimbal, three-tier mahogany box with quarter-round brass edging and single inlaid brass stringing to front and top lid, the middle section with inset rectangular mother-of-pearl plaque inscribed within a decorative 'garter' John Fletcher, London 3482, the bottom section with inset bone disc inscribed Fletcher 3482, 2-days and with the Government mark, flush recessed carrying handles
