2o (422 x 280 mm). Engraved title-page, 2 engraved leaves of text and 50 engraved plates after Jones and Kent by Vardy. (Title-page faintly foxed, occasional foxmarks throughout, plate 19 with small abrasion/hole within image.) Contemporary calf (front cover detached, rubbed). Provenance: Victor Albert George Child Villers, Earl of Jersey (Osterley Park bookplate); Irving and Casson (bookplate and stamp on free front edpaper).

FIRST EDITION OF THIS "WONDERFULLY LIVELY COMPILATION" (Millard). Vardy, who had studied under Kent, devoted the first seventeen plates to the work of Jones and the remaining to Kent. Among the subjects depicted are chimneypieces, decorative furnishings, plate covers, urns, candlesticks and chairs.
