12o (132 x 102 mm). Color frontispiece and 15 color illustrations. Original pink pictorial boards, rounded spine (slightest soiling to board edges; some very minor discoloration to endpapers). Provenance: Mrs. Hemming (presentation inscription from the author).
FIRST EDITION of Potter's second book (one of 500 copies printed), PRESENTATION COPY inscribed by Potter on the front free endpaper: "Beatrix Potter with kind regards to Mrs. Hemming(?) Oct 19th, 1937." The Tailor of Gloucester was Potter's favorite book, and she preferred this privately printed edition to the Warne edition of 1903 because it contained more of the old rhymes.
