75 mm. x 22 mm. x 20 mm. Very light greenish yellow gold with minor imperfections. The face is inscribed NO. 5229 at left, with .60 4 FINE above, and VALUE $178.67 below. The front edge has BLAKE & CO. inverted with 14.31 OZ, also inverted, on the back edge.
Bottom has a large depression from the mold, thus giving the ingot a somewhat larger appearance than the weight would suggest, an unintended numismatic benefit! Left and right edges are both blank, each with corners missing for assay. Net gold weight 8.64 ounces with a value of $20.67 per ounce, the same Mint standard value used by the assayer to evaluate all Blake & Co. gold ingots in the present sale.
