A French gilt-brass and porcelain-mounted striking giant carriage clock
The panels signed H. Desprez, third quarter 19th Century
The case of typical Gorge pattern with handle to large bevelled viewing aperture, the side panels painted with carousing cavaliers signed H. Desprez in lower left corner, their reverses inscribed La Servante pas Le Fond Trop Sombre, the similarly painted dial with individual Arabic cartouches within blue and gold borders, gilt-brass spade hands, the movement with bimetallic compensated balance to large silvered lever platform, strike/trip repeat on gong on the plain back-plate; black leather travelling case (distressed) with blue velvet lining
