The white enamel Roman dial signed Gay A Paris Rue du Fg. St. Honoré, blued moon hands and sweep centre seconds, inner concentric calendar ring with blued steel arrowhead pointer enclosed within a palmette cast ormolu bezel, the high quality movement with circular plates and four back-pinned pillars, outside countwheel strike on bell on the back-plate mounted with the pin wheel escapement with knife-edge suspended grid-iron pendulum with temperature scale to the bob, link work running to the top of the case giving indirect drive down the front left pillar to the astronomical dials within the plinth giving moonphase with its age, day of week and length of daylight on a complicated rack system, the case itself with detachable stepped pediment supported on ormolu-capped mahogany columns, the plinth with foliate cast ormolu mouldings and supported on rope-twist cast ormolu bun feet
