Of quatrefoil form, the cover with a berry finial, enameled with an iron-red crest of a monk holding a tablet and branch below a banner reading 'CAUSEAUSEDIT', surrounded by scattered violet fruiting cut-flowers continuing to the base of the tureen, bordered by a band of scrolling flowers, the scalloped rim with iron-red and gilt band
