Lot Essay

The movement is now fitted with a modern lever platform escapement. The train comprises seven wheels starting with the fusee great wheel through to the escape wheel pinion of the modern platform escapement. There are indications that this was originally fitted with a form of sub-frame assembly possibly having a detent escapement. As is to be expected with a twelve month duration timekeeper the barrel is exceptionally large and contains an extremely strong mainspring. The fusee is very high to accommodate the twenty four turns in its groove.
