AN AUSTRIAN SILVER-GILT AND VERRE EGLOMISE TANKARD
POSSIBLY SALZBURG EARLY 17TH CENTURY, MAKER'S MARK (?) A GROUP OF PELLETS, ALSO MARKED WITH SALZBURG TAX MARK FOR 1806-07
the slightly tapering body with strapwork motifs, centering chased masks and fruit motifs, each on granulated ground, the hinged lid with similar motifs and a central reverse painted glass medallion depicting a coat-of-arms below initials MF and the date 1584, with a scroll motif thumbpiece and a female capped handle, raised on a flaring diamond decorated foot, engraved with various initials - 10 cm, gross weight 8.5 oz.
