The stands circa 1710, the cabinets 19th Century with European decoration
Each decorated to the front with panels of raised gilt depicting birds, flowers and foliage, figures in landscapes to the sides and the reverse of the two cupboard doors with nashji borders and giltmetal lockplate enclosing ten variously-shaped drawers with painted silver and gold borders and decorated with figures in pastoral scenes and foliage, metal handles and two drawers with locks, the sides with carrying-handles, on carved and gilded stands with foliage band frieze above an apron of pierced C-scrolls and acanthus leaves centred by a female mask on punched ground and framed by acanthus foliage, on acanthus-decorated cabriole legs and pad feet, the stand basically Queen Anne with variations in construction and carving, formerly with cut-gesso tops, the cabinets made for the stands in 19th Century reusing the metalwork of an older and larger cabinet, losses to decoration, restorations and replacements, regilt
