Lot Essay

Renée Heimer began her career as a Rank starlet in the 1940s, becoming a double for stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren and Jean Simmons from 1940s-1970s. She worked with Elizabeth Taylor on most of her films between these dates and became friends with her and many other stars.

At the time of the typescript letter in 1955, Audrey Hepburn was starting work on War And Peace. She starred as Natasha Rostov while her husband, Mel Ferrer played the part of Prince Andrei Bolkonsky. At the time of the date on these postcards in 1961, suggests that she had probably just finished work on Breakfast at Tiffany's.
