Lot Essay

The library stamp is probably that of Henry Peter, Baron Brougham and Vaux (1778-1868), Lord Chancellor. He advocated the abolition of slavery, 1838. His own writings included 'An Enquiry into the Colonial Policy of European Powers, 1803'.
