Lot Essay

With its fluted columnar shaft and lion's-mask handles, this drum table reflects the antique style promoted by the architects Henry Holland and Charles Heathcote Tatham at Southill, Bedfordshire, such as featured on the related drum illustrated in Southill, A Regency House, London, fig. 47.
