The corner sideboard-table's Grecian ornament, comprising stepped and reeded truss-supports and a frieze inlaid with Grecian-fretted tablets in 'Etruscan'-black ribbon, corresponds to the antique style such as featured in an engraving dated 1805 published in George Smith's Collection of Designs for Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, London, 1808 (pl. 133).

A related corner sideboard with similar black-ribbon inlay and lion monopodia, is illustrated in M. Jourdain, Regency Furniture 1795-1830, London, rev. ed., 1965, p. 146, fig. 168. A further related alcove serving-table with scrolled legs was sold anonymously, Sotheby's London, 17 November 1989, lot 111.
