The shaped C-scroll and acanthus toprail above a pierced rectangular Chinese-fretwork back, the outcurved arms on scrolled and channelled downswept supports, the padded seat covered in pink velvet, on square chamfered legs headed by pierced angle-brackets and with blind fretwork panels, the seat-rails strengthened, later blocks and cross-strutts, minor restorations, the arms probably originally filled with fretwork

The design of this chair follows one for a 'Chinese Chair' (illustrated above) that was designed and published by Thomas Chippendale, in his The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director, London, 3rd ed., 1762, pl. XXVII.
