Mr. Fred Meijer believes the present picture is an autograph work by Franciscus Gysbrechts (active c. 1674).

We are grateful to Dr. Sam Segal for the attribution. He compares the present painting with a vanitas still life in the Musée des Beaux- Arts, Rennes, which was originally attributed to Cornelis Gysbrechts and later attributed to Franciscus Gysbrechts in the exhibition at Caen, Les vanités dans la peinture au XVIIe siècle, 1990, no. 51.
