Late 18th Century, the first with upper-case mark, the second with lower-case mark
The first after the original medal by T. Ivanov, applied in white relief with a portrait of the Empress facing to her left, crowned, her hair about her shoulders, wearing a cuirass and fur-trimmed cloak, above the impressed inscription EMP. RUSSIA (slight chips to back of plaque), 3 1/8in. (8cm.) high; the second with a solid pale-blue ground, the head of the philosopher facing to his left, impressed EPICURUS to the reverse, 2 1/8in. (5.5cm.) high (2)
