A French gilt-metal and porcelain-mounted striking mantel clock, last quarter 19th century
The case elaborately festooned with trailing garlands of flowers and surmounted by a porcelain urn finial, flanked by columns applied with porcelain ovals painted with female figures holding an arrow and a violin respectively, on breakfront base also inset with painted porcelain panels, raised on eight foliate cast toupie feet, the porcelain dial painted with gilt cartouches against a royal blue chapter ring, the centre painted with a lady with Cupid, the twin barrel movement with countwheel strike on bell, stamped on the backplate H. MARC PARIS -- 23¾in. (60cm.) high
