The case with breakarch hood with brass stop-fluted pilasters, sound frets to the sides and also to the backboard of the case, glazed trunk door with astragal mouldings flanked by conforming pilasters to the plinth, with central panel carved in relief with foliate scrolls, above wavy skirting, the 12in. brass dial with mask and scroll spandrels to the silvered chapter ring with leafy sprig engraved centre, subsidiary seconds ring to the centre and Westminster chime/silent ring to the arch, the latter flanked by dolphin spandrels, the substantial three train movement quarter-chiming on four gongs and with hour strike on further gong -- 89in. (226cm.) high
