A George I walnut month-going longcase clock, first quarter 18th century
The case with flat top hood with brass-capped pilasters, rectangular feather-banded trunk door with brass-framed lenticle, with plain skirt to the re-built plinth, case reveneered, the 12in. square brass dial signed Jno. Crucefix London on the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with sword-hilt half hour markers, blued steel hands (possibly later), the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring, decorated calendar aperture and low positioned ringed winding holes, cherub and coronet spandrels, the five ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and internal rack strike on bell -- 87½in. (222cm.) high
