A Nevers model of a book
Late 18th century
With yellow and black spine, edges and clasps, the covers painted in blue, black and ochre with two birds and a bird-cage flanked by amorous inscriptions quant cette oyseau Chantera mon, amour finira and Je ni ranteray Jamais with the sun and moon above, the reverse with Cupid holding a bird before a town in a mountainous landscape inscribed Mon nois/FAIT TOUT (minute glaze flaking to two corners)
