Six wines of the excellent 1945 vintage. Superb quality but small quantity. All, because of peculiar post-war problems and restrictions, were bottled in Oporto in 1947. 22 shippers, Cockburn the only major abstention. MB

Provenance: private English cellar, sold at Christie's, October 1971. Many notes : last, dining out at Croft's in Vila Nova de Gaia in October 1977. Still fairly sweet, lean, firm, silky leathery tannins, crisp, dry finish". MB
