Bottled by Taylors in their lodge at Vila Nova de Gaia in 1947.
Shipped to England 1948 and binned undisturbed until sold at Christie's in May 1971.

Provenance: a country house cellar in Cumberland.

A great wine. An archetypal Taylor, massive in its youth, still impressive. Sublime yet still laden with fruit and alcohol. At their tercentenary tasting, much argument about which was the finest, the 1945 or 1948. MB
