Château Latour--Vintage 1917
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Levels: one top and two mid shoulder; very dampstained labels, two with remains of labels only; with damaged and corroded capsules
Provenance: Comtesse Guy de Beaumont's private cellar at Christie's "Finest and Rarest sale", 27 June 1974.
The Comtesse was the widow of Comte Guy de Beaumont, the President of
Château Latour prior to the sale to Pearsons and Harveys of Bristol in 1962. This was one of three sales of old vintages for the family, this particular stock being from the cold and slightly damp cellar in Brittany, memorably packed by my wife and young family at Easter in 1974. A moderate vintage but typically Latour: deep coloured, combining richness and austerity. Several notes including bottles from this cellar. MB
3 bottles per lot
