Lot 579-580 levels: all into neck; all bottles recorked by the Château in 1992. Lot 580 with soiled labels
1959 was one of the first journalistic "vintages of the century". Some had second thoughts when the 1961 came along. In my opinion, 1959's have stood their test of time, many, including Lafite superior to the 1961.
In 1959, Lafite made a superb wine, one of the best ever and still drinking well. Many notes, last a magnum in Singapore dining with the great connoisseur and host N.K. Yong, in January 1998. MB
