Provenance: the cellar at Fasque, Scotland, the property of Sir William Gladstone Bt. From "Bin 49 claret (after dinner) Château Lafite 1871". Sold at Christie's, June 1970.
A relatively light vintage, described by Professor George Saintsbury in "notes on a Cellarbook" as "a great standby" - i.e. until the 1870 had matured. MB
