Pessac (Graves), 1er cru classé
Lot 837 level: very top shoulder. Lot 838 level: upper shoulder. Both lots with corroded capsules, slight signs of old seepage, and handwritten slip labels.
Provenance : a Rothschild family cellar, Paris.
Along with the Latour 1899, the Haut-Brion 1899 was included in Edmund Penning-Rowsell's short list of all-time favourite Bordeaux in his book "The Wines of Bordeaux".
