Provenance: The Private Cellar of the Late Clarence Dillon in "An Important Sale of Château Haut-Brion and other wines of exceptional quality", at Christie's, 6 December 1979.
One of the greatest of all burgundies. The most completely successful of the pre-war vintages and long lasting. The vines at this period were old and ungrafted. I have been privileged to taste and drink this wine on just four occasions, last in 1988. Its magnificence defies description : it blossoms in the glass, its richness, extract and tannin preserving it perfectly. MB
