Henri IV (1553-1610), known as Henri of Navarre was King of France from 1589 succeeding Henri III. The first of the Bourbon monarchy he married Marguerite de Valois in 1572.

Marguerite de Valois (1553-1615) Queen of Navarre, was the daughter of Henri II of France and Catherine de'Medici. The marriage was childless and lated dissolved by the Pope in 1599 in order to allow Henri to marry Marie de'Medici.

Marie de'Medici (1573-1642) was Queen of France from 1600-1610. She was the mother of Louis XIII and became regent for her nine year old son when her husband was assassinated in 1610.

Catherine de'Medici (1519-89) was born in Florence, the daughter of Lorenzo de'Medici, Duke of Urbino. At age 14 she married Henri Duke of Orleans, the future Henri II of France. She was the mother of three kings of France: Francis II, Charles IX, Henri III
