Lot Essay

Sir Richard Bingham (born c.1528-1598/99) was a famous soldier, Governor of Connaught and later Marshal of Ireland and Governor of Leinster. In 1558 he married Sarah, daughter of John Heigham of Sifford's Hall, Suffolk. He had one daughter, Martha.

General Patrick Sarsfield, Earl of Lucan (?1645-1693), was born in Lucan, County Dublin. He was created Earl of Lucan by James VII and II. He fought at Steenkirk (1692) and was mortally wounded at Neerwinden.
