Lot Essay

Cavendish is the surname of the ducal house of Devonshire

Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex (1566-1601) was an Elizabethan soldier and courtier. On the 19th of February he was found guilty of high treason and beheaded in the Tower on the 25th.
