A Chinese dated Tang marble carving of Bodhisattva
Dated to the first month of the first year of the Tai He Period (827 A.D.).
the figure with serene expression and downcast eyes, seated on a double lotus throne, wearing cloth headdress, semi-clad with loose robes draped across the shoulders tied at the waist, wearing necklaces, a large Taotie mask pendant, and holding a string of pearls in one hand, two line inscription to base -- 22¾in. (57.8cm.) high, (old wear and minor damages).
