Mexico City, circa 1830, assay master Cayetano Buiton, maker's mark lacking
Oblong and of oval section, with reeded borders, the sides chased in three-colour gold with two oval cartouches, one enclosing a landscape, the other an animal, flanked by flowering urns on plinths, on a matted ground, the detachable cover with varicolour, gold floral and laurel swags, with scrolling foliage above, the sides engraved with two initials each in lozenge-shaped cartouche, marked on base, sleeve and cover
