Further details
The above four lots represent all four denominations issued by the Chinese in 1793 to replace the Nepalese mohars, and their cut subdivisions. Interestingly, the .1 Tangka was never officially approved by the Emperor according to the official edicts, and even today is not published in most Chinese catalogues. The Tibetans traders, however, did not like to use the minor denominations, and later the same year they were replaced by the single denomination, the Sho, but struck on a larger flan, and equal in value to the debased Nepalese and Tibetan coins. These early pieces are very difficult to find.
