maker's mark of Robert Innes, London, 1749, the double-hinged box unmarked, circa 1760
Shaped-oblong and on four leaf-capped scroll feet, fitted with baluster ink pot and sander and later double-hinged box with stylised bud finials, with shell and gadrooned border, the box engraved with a crest with Earl's coronet above, marked on reverse and on pots, the pots' covers and box unmarked, engraved on reverse with cancelled scratchweight '38=1' and later scratchweight 'No. 1, 37-13'
