AN ITALIAN PALE GREEN POLYCHROME-DECORATED AND PARCEL-GILT ARMCHAIR
Mid-18th Century, Venice
En suite with the preceding lot, the moulded and carved shaped pierced back, arms and seat overall decorated with C-scrolls and floral sprays against a light green lacca background, the back with a central medallion carved with a dolphin emerging from water and flanked by water leaves and rockwork, above naturalistic radiating support, the base of the back with pierced medallion framed by stylised foliage, the shaped seatrail conformingly decorated above cabriole front legs and splayed back legs, the padded seat upholstered à chassis in floral and striped silk, gilding rubbed with areas of refreshment and traces of original decoration, polychrome decoration largely original with areas of refreshment, especially to back
