the first signed with initials and indistinctly dated 'RRR 1844' (lower right) and inscribed 'No 1 - The first/effect of twilight/on the dipping of the/Sun below the horizon/Reminiscene of Nature/A Traveller on a white/horse. A Woman & girl passing/a ... man with his load on/Asses. 15 guineas.' (on an old label attached to the reverse); and the second signed and dated 'R R Reinagle 1844' (lower right), inscribed 'No 2/The Sun setting, with a/view in the distance of a/large Town on the margin/of a large River bounded by/Mountains. A Farmer/having watered his Cows is/driving them home./Reminiscene of Nature/14 Guineas' (on an old label attached to the reverse) and with a cutting from The Times dated 2 December 1862 announcing the artist's death (attached to the reverse)
