The circular case surmounted by a giltwood eagle with glazed door opening to a white-painted dial face with Roman chapter ring centering the inscription Warranted by/William Cummens above a tapering throat with églomisé inset panel decorated with gilt foliage over the inscription PATENT, all within a spiral beaded frame flanked by brass spandrels above a box base with églomisé inset panel decorated with naval battle scene enclosed within gilt decoration surrounded by a similar spiral beaded frame, on a gilded tapering fluted base with applied spherules over an acorn pendant
