Lot Essay

The engraved initials on this dresser set are those of Madora Bradford Moore (1871-1946). In 1895 she married Allen F. Moore of Monticello, Illinois (1869-1945). Moore was a prominent Mid-West industrialist, congressman and banker, described as "a man who made millions and spent most of them in Monticello".
