Lot Essay

Félix Boisselier won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1805, but as the stay in Rome was awarded only every two years, he had to win the prize again in 1806 to be able to go to Italy. He was still a pensionnaire at the Villa Medici in Rome at his death in 1811.
