engraving with aquatint and hand-coloring, 1829, on J Whatman Turkey Mill, trimmed within platemark at the left and right margins, closely trimmed at the top and bottom margins, with central horizontal fold (reinforced at reverse), small paper loss at top left margin corner (backed), extremely pale offsetting, minor surface soiling, a few very pale foxmarks in the margins
"The mutual attachment of the male and the female continues through life... I knew the pair represented in the plate for three years, and saw their nest each spring placed within a few hundred yards of the spot in which that of the preceding year was."
