The center with the gilt script initials in a square AA, encircled by the Armenian name Avet(ik) Yarokht'iyan and the date 1794, all on a field of blue stars and within a series of neoclassicall borders in blue enamel and gilt

Lot Essay

A teabowl and saucer from this service was in the Mottahedeh collection, illustrated by Howard & Ayers op. cit., p. 473, where they note that the service "was designed for the personal use of someone probably engaged in trade in China"
