The red silk-upholstered rectangular seat cushion fitting between the arched uprights mounted with ebonized lions' masks to each front, above a panelled, reeded frieze between outset panelled corners and squared legs with lions' paw feet, the feet formerly with casters

This bench follows an 1804 design for a 'Window Seat' published in George Smith's Collection of Designs for Household Furniture and Interior Decoration of 1808, plate 52.
