Lot Essay

Matisse usually cast his bronzes from the original plaster. However, Tête de fillette (Marguerite) is an exception because the original plaster was damaged after the first bronze cast was executed. The remainder of the edition, therefore, of which this work is no. 3, was cast from the first bronze cast.
