Lot Essay

According to D. Marchesseau (op. cit) Chat maître d'hôtel was executed in two versions. The first was conceived in 1961 and shows the cat holding a rectangular platter with its tail touching the base. The second version, as in the present work, was conceived in 1967 and shows the cat holding a bowl with its tail off the ground.
