CA'VIOLA
Beppe Caviola is a young man who has developed an impressive appreciation of his native Piedmont. Additionally he is a master of the contemporary style of wine production. Both of these facts have been recognized not only by the press, but also by his fellow producers, some of whom use him as a consultant. Realizing the Langhe's potential for colour and extract, Caviola works both in the vineyard and cellar to maximise the potential of the fruit that he harvests. Most impressive are the results he achieves with Barbera and Dolcetto, varietals which are often under-appreciated. Because of the mineral rich soil, tannin can be a bit out of balance in contemporary styled Langhe wines. Caviola has conquered this problem, styling wines of fine extract and unusual density. Surely one of the most impressive producers in Piedmont today, it is sad that he produces so little wine, as few will have the distinct opportunity to experience it.
