EREDI FUGLINI
Roberto Guerrini is a man who has committed himself to maximising the potential of the terroir which he is fortunate enough to be able to work on. The vines are situated over 15 acres and rest in tuffaceous and galestro marls, and are extremely stressed for water, particularly in the light of the fact that these soils are naturally low in organic components. Ranging in age from 10 to 30 years old, the vines are planted to a density of 1,400 to 2,050 vines per hectare, bearing ten buds per stock. Guerrini prunes so that he gets yields of 1.5kg of grapes per vine. These high standards are then carried into the winery, where is plot is vinified separately. Fermentation takes place at very low temperatures, followed by a 15 - 20 day skin maceration. Aging takes place in a combination of French barriques and large format Slavonian casks. The result of all this care and meticulous attention are wines of great depth and intensity, combined with the nuance and elegance that one would expect from top Brunello.
