An Imerial Satsuma vase
19th century
of ovoid form set upon the back of a karashishi, painted and gilt with clusters of peony and chrysanthemum sprays beneath a collar of lappets reserved with flowerheads, the karashishi modelled with its front section lowered to the ground and head turned to its left with snarling expression -- 63/8in. (16cms) high, signed.
